Gloria Jenkins, President - Oakland Bay Area Chapter

Gloria Jenkins is currently the Chief of Social and Behavioral Health Services for Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, CA. In that capacity she has oversight for three distinct support service units including medical social services, substance abuse treatment services and outpatient psychiatric services. The services span over three distinct hospital campuses which have specialty designations to treat acute care/trauma patients, psychiatric emergency/inpatients and skilled nursing/rehab patients.
As a professionally trained social worker Ms. Jenkins has worked in the health care industry for 30 years as an administrator, planning, implementing and evaluating services for women, infants, children and families. Ms. Jenkins has written and received funding for many grants over the years to provide health and social services to women and children.
Ms. Jenkins has been an active member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Oakland/Bay Area Chapter for ten years and has served the organization in a variety of capacities. She was recently elected and currently serves as the President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Oakland/Bay Area Chapter. During her tenure with the organization she has also served as the 1st Vice President over Programs and Community Action; as the 3rd Vice President over Public Service/Education and Public Relations. She served as Membership Chair from 2003 – 2005 and chaired the nominating committee for two consecutive years.
Ms Jenkins’ community service has included working with the Lake Chabot Junior Golf Academy as a former board member and former vice president of the board. Ms. Jenkins was also a former board member for Third Age, a board that provided oversight for senior day care service sites in the city of Oakland. Additional community activities have included serving on a variety of taskforce and committees charged with evaluating emerging social and health needs of vulnerable populations and planning services to meet their needs.
Ms. Jenkins is a graduate of Tennessee State University and the University Of Tennessee School Of Social Work.
