NCBW PROMOTES LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT ABROAD

New International Women’s Advocacy Committee and Planned Projects Introduced at the 2010 Leadership Retreat   mp9004037751

NCBW plans to translate its mission and vision into global action was rolled out at the June retreat by the leadership of our new international advocacy committee.  This committee is championed by its national co-chairs, Cynthia Williams, president of Metro Atlanta Chapter and Natatia Griffith, national board member—both of whom have demonstrated a long-standing interest and commitment to elevating the NCBW profile and advocacy beyond our borders.  Other members of the international advocacy agenda leadership includes Dr. Patricia Hill Williams, the NCBW senior representative to the United Nations, and Dr. Corrine Anderson, founder of “Dear American Friend”, President of NCBW Central Mississippi chapter, and currently working in Liberia as part of the Rural Teachers Training Institute.

The national NCBW’s first organized effort to promote support for Black women abroad will take the form of transporting medical supplies and educational teaching aids to Liberia through the generous support of Firestone Rubber Company.  This shipment from national NCBW will build upon work already underway by our Metro Atlanta chapter and the work of members of our Central Mississippi chapter.
