Chapter Creation FAQ's

Can a new chapter be chartered in a city where a former NC100BW chapter once existed but is now dissolved?

Yes, a new chapter can be considered for the charter of a dissolved group at the discretion of the National Board of Directors.

Can a chapter be started in a city where a chapter already exists?

Yes. The chartering of chapters is at the discretion of the National Board of Directors and geography is not the only criteria that is considered for approval.

How do I get information about starting a chapter?

You can receive information about starting a chapter from our national office, however here is the basic information:

You will need a minimum of 25 women to have an interest group and a roster of these women must accompany your letter of interest that must be sent to the national office.

Once the interest group has submitted the non-refundable organizing fee to the national office, the interest group is considered an organizing group and will be contacted by the national chapter development committee and assigned a chapter development coordinator.

The organizing group has up to one year to complete all of the required activities in order to petition the national board of directors for charter consideration at their next national board meeting.

Forming a Chapter

If you are interested in forming a chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women (NC100BW),  assemble a core group of 25 women who are also interested in organizing a chapter, then, the organizing leader should send a letter expressing such interest the be approved to:

Ms. Shirley Poole, Executive Director
National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.
1925 Adam C. Powell Jr. Blvd., Suite 1L
New York, NY 10026
Office: 212.222.5660
Fax: 212.222.5675

A copy of the letter will be mailed to the chair of the Chapter Development Committee within 5 days of receipt. The chair will talk with and respond in writing to the organizing leader and 2 copies of the chapter organizing guidelines will be enclosed in the correspondence.

Note: Get in touch with the national office at 212.222.5660 if you have additional questions regarding forming a chapter in your area

Email your letter of interest to ExecutiveDirector@nc100bw.org
*Please write "Chapter Development" in the subject line

Website Usage FAQ's

Why is the web site so big on my screen?

If you often find yourself scrolling from left to right or up and down to see the contents of a web page.

I think we can help.

While it’s impossible to design a website to look the same in every browser, platform and screen resolution.

SO to be able to reach a greater audience our site was designed to accomodate the average screen resolution of 1024 by 768 however it's optimal setting is 1280 by 1024 and for the real technophobes 1680 by 1050 still looks insanely good.

To change your screen resolution follow these steps.

Using your mouse, right click anywhere on your screen (properly reffered to as your desktop).

1

On the dialog box that shows up click "Properties".

2

When the Display Properties Dialog box appears click the Settings tab.

Write down your original settings in case you want to go back to them.

Don't worry if your dialog box does not look exactly like the one pictured as only really geeky people (like myself) have two monitors.

Notice that the Primary Display (1) has a screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels. Yours may be higher or lower.

3

Using the slider (as shown above), moving it to the right, adjust the setting until you see 1024 by 768 pixels and click apply.

You may see another dialog box that tells you that the monitor will revert back to it's previous settings should you NOT click OK within an alloted time.

If your screen looks OK, then click the OK button.

However, if you bought your computer new within the last couple of years, you may follow the above steps again but this time select  1080 by 1024 pixels.

4

What you see may just impress you.

But if not, simply follw the steps as outlined above to restore your settings back to it's original format.

How do I change my user name?

After logging on to the website, while in the members only area, click on “My Profile” on My Menu.

Next click on the "Contact Info" tab.

Locate the "Username" input area and replace the data you see with your "NEW" username.

While you're here you may want to check and fill in any other "Additional Information" you may have omitted during registration.

Click on the "Additional Information" tab to update this area.

When you're done make sure you click the "Update" button to save your changes!

You'll know your information is saved when you see the indicators as shown in the diagram below.

That's all there is to it!
